The Football Play Drawing Matters
Over the past decade we have heard many takes on FirstDown PlayBook. Some folks immediately get it, while others, over the years have been “huh?’. I remember one older coach asking me “What Is It? Just a bunch of football play drawings?”
These days a lot of people are “getting it”. At the end of the day, what separates FirstDown PlayBook from others is that we think the football play drawing matters. We don’t look at it as just a means to an end.
Make no mistake that a football play drawing is the foundation for a lot of other teaching/coaching aides that are important to coaches. We understand that.
Just this morning I read a quote from a former boss of mine, Mack Brown, that went something like “It’s not what we the coaches say that matters. It’s what the players hear that counts.” In our opinion this includes what your players see as well.

We also know that the play drawing is often the first thing that a player sees when you coach them. If you lose them here, what are your chances from this point on in the teaching progression? Not very good, if you ask us.
Remember To Clear Your Filters…
So when you look at our play drawings and see the obvious difference in the look and the detail from others, understand there are several reasons for this. The biggest reason, however, its that we think the play drawing matters.
