Teach Football As Your Player Sees it

As we sit here in mid October you are at half way through your schedule. Regardless of if your season is going well or not, there is one thing I am certain of. You are spending as much time on your opponent as you are player execution. Some of you will scoff at that notion but it’s true, admit it or not. That’s why today FirstDown PlayBook wants to focus on how you teach football to your offense, defense and special teams.

A great portion of football coaching is showing your players what is about to be coming at them on game day. You break down the video and try to find the best ways to get this information to your players. You will no doubt have cutups and video is an important part of the process.

Truth be known though, when it comes to video, your players will focus on who they are playing against more than the scheme that is going to run against them. The next thing you will do is create a scouting report to show your players what is in store for them that week.

It is important to get your players information about what they are going to see in an organized manner. This will help them digest it and process it faster as you prepare. Creating scout team cards is a part of that process. Here is where FirstDown PlayBook helps you kill two birds with one stone.

What It Really Gets Down To Is “How Do Your Players See The Game?”

When you create scout team cards on FirstDown PlayBook you have also created an accurate view of what your starters will see on game day. FirstDown PlayBook allows you to take that very same scout team card and duplicate it. Now you have a well drawn card for your scout team and a great teaching drawing for your starters. Your starters are seeing a play blocked up vs the correct front or a defense vs the correct formation the way they will see it on game day.

Last thing on our way out. Flag football coaches and youth football coaches, we are talking to you too. Often times your resources are stretched and this is a way to teach just like they do in the NFL. Take a look at this short video to learn more.
