It is the year 2024 and to all of our delight Army and Navy have discovered the value in throwing the ball. The results are obvious as both teams are undefeated, ranked, and now present defenses with one more option to defend. It got us thinking about this Slide Naked Boot pass play that you see a lot these days

When it comes to Army and Navy, the passing game has been so successful this season because it mostly comes off of the strong run game. It’s not like either of these offenses are going to throw for 300 yards in any given game. It’s all about how efficient they are with their passing attempts.

This Slide Naked is a great example of a high efficiency pass play any offense can run. It can be tempting to almost totally shelve the pass game when you are playing with a young inefficient quarterback. It is usually a mistake unless your talent is much better than your opponent.

Good play callers find some way to throw the ball before the defense begins to cheat. This doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be a drop back or three step pass. FirstDown PlayBook has long preached about the advantages of getting a young quarterback moving towards the target in the pass game.

Sooner or later the defense is going to load up the box and yards will be hard to come by. You will get a strong dose of quarters coverage with safeties playing like they are linebackers. Other defensive coordinators will play a single high defense and have an extra defender on every run play.

Here at FirstDown PlayBook we know that not every coach out there wants to run the Wing T or the Flexbone. That is why when you learn more about this Slide Naked high low, you will see a concept that can fit into any offense. You can even dial this up out of a one back formation as easily as not. Let’s take a look.
