FLEXBONE BUCK SWEEP

DESCRIPTION OF FLEXBONE BUCK SWEEP

-SWEEP PLAY THAT IS COMPLIMENTARY OFF OF THE FB TRAP.

-THE MISSION IS FOR THE OFFENSE TO MAKE IT HARD FOR THE DEFENSE TO FIND THE BALL.

-THE DEFENSE SHOULD HAVE TO DEFEND THE FB, THE ORBIT BACK AND THE QB ON THE BOOT.

-THE MISDIRECTION ACTION IN THIS FLEXBONE BUCKSWEEP IS INTENDED TO SLOW THE REACTION TIME OF THE SECOND LEVEL DEFENDERS.

QUARTERBACK:

-SEND THE ORBIT BACK IN MOTION WITH FOOT OR VERBAL CUE.

-TAKE THE SNAP AND OPEN OPPOSITE OF THE PLAY. (TO THE BACKSIDE PULLING GUARD)

-GET DEPTH FROM THE LOS TO ALLOW THE GUARD ROOM TO PULL IN FRONT OF YOU.

-FAKE THE HANDOFF TO THE H AND THEN HAND THE BALL TO THE ORBIT BACK WITH NEAR HAND.

-BOOT FAKE OPPOSITE.

FULLBACK (H):

-OPEN AWAY FROM PLAYSIDE ON A TIGHT A GAP COURSE.

-AIMING POINT IS THE CENTER’S AWAY SIDE FOOT.

-THE GUARD MUST BEAT YOU AS HE LEAVES TO PULL.

-EXECUTE A CONVINCING FAKE AND SEAL THE A GAP AS YOU TRAVEL THRU IT.

ORBIT BACK (F): (BACK SIDE SLOT)(BALL CARRIER):

-QB WILL BRING YOU IN SHORT ORBIT MOTION. 

-GET TO DEPTH BEHIND TACKLE ON THE SNAP.

-TAKE THE OVER THE TOP HANDOFF FROM THE QB.

-READ THE EDGE BLOCK OF THE SLOT.

-ATTACK THE PERIMETER AND FOLLOW THE PULLING GUARDS FOR YARDAGE.

BUCK SWEEP DESCRIPTION: -SWEEP PLAY THAT IS COMPLIMENTARY OFF OF THE FB TRAP. OBJECTIVE FOR THE OFFENSE TO MAKE IT HARD FOR THE DEFENSE TO FIND THE BALL.

PLAY SIDE SLOT:

-CHEAT UP TO THE LOS ENOUGH TO HELP BUT NOT ENOUGH TO BE NOTICED.

-BLOCK DOWN ON THE DEFENSIVE END.

-IF THE BLOCK IS SOLO JUST TIE THE END UP ENOUGH FOR THE BALL TO CLEAR.

-IF THE BLOCK IS WITH THE TACKLE COMBO WORK WITH THE TACKLE KNOWING HE WILL CLIMB LATE.

-BLOCK THE OLB VS A 3-4 DEFENSE.

-BLOCK THE CHOKE VS A BEAR DEFENSE.

BACK SIDE WR: BACKSIDE CUTOFF.

PLAYSIDE TACKLE:

-HEAD UP OR OUTSIDE SHADE: VEER BLOCK INSIDE AND GET VERTICAL QUICKLY TO BLOCK THE BOX DEFENDER.

-THE SLOT WILL BLOCK THE END FROM THE OUTSIDE AS YOU VEER.

-B GAP DEFENDER: BLOCK THE DEFENDER.

PLAYSIDE GUARD:

-PULL FLAT AND COME TIGHT OFF OF THE SLOT’S BLOCK.

-BLOCK FORCE FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

-IF NO DEFENDER IS OUTSIDE TURN UP AND LEAD THE PLAY.

CENTER:

-SHADE STRONG: SCRAMBLE THE SHADE’S PLAYSIDE LEG AND PREVENT PENETRATION.

-HEAD UP NOSE OR BACKSIDE SHADE: BLOCK THE NOSE AND THEN PROTECT THE BACKSIDE PULLING GUARD.

-UNCOVERED: BLOCK BACK INTO THE A GAP AND PROTECT THE BACKSIDE PULLING GUARD.

BACKSIDE GUARD:

-ON THE SNAP PULL PLAYSIDE. KEEP YOUR PATH TIGHT TO THE LOS INITIALLY.

-WHEN YOU REACH THE ORIGINAL POSITION OF THE PLAYSIDE GUARD BOW THE PATH AND GET SOME DEPTH.

-LOOK TO TURN UP OUTSIDE OF THE SLOT’S BLOCK AND INSIDE OF THE FRONTSIDE GUARD’S KICKOUT BLOCK.

-LOOK TO BLOCK THE FIRST DEFENDER YOU ENCOUNTER. (NORMALLY THE PLAYSIDE LB).

-IF NECESSARY WALL THIS DEFENDER OFF TO THE OUTSIDE AND LET THE BACK JUMP CUT INSIDE OF YOU.

BACKSIDE TACKLE:

-ZONE STEP PLAYSIDE AND BLOCK ANY DEFENDER IN THE B GAP.

-IF THERE IS NO DEFENDER IN THE B GAP WORK UP TO SECOND LEVEL.

-THE QB WILL HOLD THE END MAN ON THE LOS WITH THE BOOT FAKE.
