Your Time. Your Players’ Attention.
Yes, the pandemic slowed us down some but you can bet that we will pick the pace right back up here in the next year or two. In fact, the pace may even accelerate a bit. Going here. Doing this. As a population, we stay very busy. You can bet there will be other distractions that will rival you for your players’ attention.
So now you want to coach a football team. Your first thought might be of you on the football field sharing what you know to players at what ever level you are coaching. That’s part of it but there is sooooo much more to it.
You’re going to find yourself spending hours getting ready for practice. This will be the case if you are coaching 8-9 year olds or prep footballers. You will be tempted to cut corners. Our plays and playbook don’t have to look THAT good do they? After all they are just kids.
This is where you should go back to the beginning of this blog and read it again. If you ask your players’ attention to focus on some black and white play drawing that even you barely understand, you and your players are going to struggle mightily.
New: Now You Can Create Practice Schedules On FirstDown PlayBook
So what’s the answer? We can only promise you that 24 hours will be 24 hours and that will not change. We can also promise you that your player are going to live in a world that gets increasingly hectic not the opposite.
What we have done at FirstDown PlayBook is to focus on helping you with this one thing. NFL coaches have created a place where you can go get well drawn football plays and then edit them to fit your team’s needs. You also get coaching points and player assignments. Then you can then edit these plays to fit your team. Yes, to help you keep your players’ attention.
FirstDown PlayBook also lets you take a free look at what we do and how we can help you. You have to admit, free is rare these days too. So get ahead of the curve. As we inch closer to the football season start thinking about how you are going to manage your time and their attention.
