FirstDown PlayBook Passing Game Concepts
If you coach for very long at all you will understand and respect the fact that people learn differently. You have heard us say on more than one occasion that all coaching is individual coaching. The passing game is no exception.
On the surface it would seem like we are referencing how you handle the psychological side of coaching. That is true, but there is more to it than that. There is also a pure cognitive side of it as well.
For instance, take how we teach the passing game. There are coaches and players who think about it primarily through the lens of formations. If you line up in this formation then you will likely get this defense. If you get this defense then this set of pass plays will work.
There is another subset of coaches however, who thinks about it primarily conceptually. They think give me a concept and I will run it out of multiple formations and just dress it up with window dressing.
This short video below explains how FirstDown PlayBook recognizes there are different learning styles. You will see how we have most, if not all, of them covered in your Varsity Passing Game section.
