5 Ways To Choose Your Defensive Pressure

By FirstDown PlayBook on Jul 7, 2021

There has been a theme, in case you haven’t noticed, over the past few days. The theme is that a lot of FirstDown PlayBook play content is now easier to find. The defensive pressure section is our focus today and it falls squarely into that category too. Here are 5 ways we are helping you find defensive pressure that is right for your defense.

There are so many variables to consider when a defensive coordinator wants to heat up an offense. FirstDown PlayBook has taken all of them into consideration. We even have pressures designed specifically for youth football.

The video below is going to let you see exactly what we are talking about but here is a list of how we let you find FirstDown PlayBook defensive pressure packages.

1. Choose The Player(s)

You just choose the player on defense that you want to be a part of the pressure. Maybe it’s the Mike linebacker, or the Free safety? That’s up to you. We have pressures organized by the personnel you choose to bring on the dog or blitz.

2. Choose The Front

If you are a 3-4 defense or a 3-3 stack coach you want to find pressures that fit your defensive front. FirstDown PlayBook allows you to do that. A good place to start is here where NFL coaches have suggested 6 sound youth football defenses for you.

3. Choose Pressures With A Stunt

Sometimes it’s a good idea to get a little line stunt involved with your defensive pressure. You can choose from our “Stunt” option to see all of the pressures we have with stunts involved.

4. Choose Your Coverage

Look, you often times play man coverage with your defensive pressure. We get that but some of you just don’t have the secondary to do that on every pressure. We offer you a variety of man and zone coverages to choose from.

5. Choose the Offensive Formation You Will Be Facing

Finally, no matter what type of pressure you are bringing, job number one is to get lined up and to be sound. That’s why choosing a pressure that is drawn up against the formations you are likely to see is a good idea. We have this designed to allow you to choose the formation you will be facing.

LBefore we head out we want to make sure that youth coaches are very careful with our pressure sections. You are probably better off staying over in our youth football defensive section if you are coaching 8-9 year olds. Now, let’s take a look at this video so you defensive gurus can get to making life miserable for the 2021 offenses.
