49ers Landmark Discipline Makes This Four Vertical Concept Work

By FirstDown PlayBook on Dec 29, 2020

Each Tuesday here at FirstDown PlayBook we get together with other leaders in the football industry to bring you All 22 Tuesday. Be sure to check back here each week as Coach & Coordinator’s Keith GrabowskiThe Scouting Academy’s Dan Hatman and FNF Coaches join us to draw up and analyze some of your favorite plays from this past weekend!

The San Francisco 49ers may be out of playoff contention but you could not tell it this past Sunday. Their staff put together a brilliant game plan on both sides of the ball against Arizona.

The play we are highlighting today on All 22 Tuesday is a good example of how well they executed at times in the game. They hit the cardinals with four verticals out of an empty backfield and it is beautiful.

The important lesson that we can take as coaches from this is just how disciplined their receivers are with their landmarks. The Cardinals do not necessarily play this poorly, in fact they play it well.

However as you are about to see, there wasn’t a whole lot any of the defenders were able to do about this football play. This is a good clip to show your players as you install any four vertical concept.
