Wagner Lets His Eyes Take Him To The Ball

Well if you’re going to pick a linebacker to feature on Teachtape Thursday, you’d be hard pressed to find a better one than Seattle’s Bobby Wagner.

Here’s Wagner facing off against the Rams run game. He displays top-notch mental processing right from the snap, quickly reading his keys and identifying the run scheme and where the run is designed to hit, in this case backside. Wagner also identifies that the LG is responsible for climbing and blocking him.

He scrapes over the top to add himself at the point of attack while keeping his shoulders square and eyes in the backfield. He beats the guard with quickness and athletic ability, then inserts to make the play on the back.

Really nice job by Wagner putting film study into practice and making a nice play.
