YAC or Yards After Catch is a valid way to evaluate the effectiveness of a receiver. Sometimes when people invoke the word, they think it’s completely a result of the player’s talent. That is not accurate. If you are a coach, don’t excuse yourself from coaching and creating YAC.
When a receiver comes to the line of scrimmage there are always pre-snap and post snap keys to reveal important things about the coverage.
