See It Before You Call It: Visual Game Day Call Sheet
Over the past 45 years of coaching football and working with football coaches, I know at least one thing for certain. Most football coaches are visual learners and, more importantly, visual teachers. This is why I am so excited about this new way of looking at your game day call sheet.
Ask any football coach to verbally describe or to write out a paragraph describing their favorite football play or defense and you will be majorly unimpressed. Ask them to draw it up for you, and you will quickly see how well this coach can actually teach.
Football coaches teach technique by demonstrating the desired technique or having an experienced player do it for the younger players. Football coaches teach football plays and defenses with football diagrams.
Game day does not have to be any different. A lot of football coordinators call the game from the press box. Why? Simply because they can see better and also work in a quieter environment. This is for you.
You Are Looking At A Play Drawing Of What You Call

Your 3rd and 7 call is now made by looking at the play drawings you have for that situation. Read this carefully. You are looking at the actual play diagram on the FirstDown PlayBook app, not just the text play call on a laminated call sheet.
Now, between series, as you are evaluating what is working and what needs to be corrected, you are doing so as you look at the actual plays you called and where the breakdowns are occurring. Halftimes? Same thing.
Now, before I get out of your hair here, I want to reinforce one thing. NOBODY SAID YOU WERE GOING TO USE THIS INSTEAD OF YOUR LAMINATED GAME DAY CALL SHEET. I just said you could and should use this alongside your normal game day call sheet.
