Scott Criner Providing High School Football Help With Substance

I am trying to learn to play golf. Let me just say that it’s a hard complex game. Granted, I am getting better but what I am finding out is that there is a lot of information out there. Some of it helpful and some of it is pretty useless. It got me to thinking that it is a lot like what a young football coach finds on social media when they look for football help.
When it comes to golf, there is a lot of help out there. Most of it telling me if I just do this or do that my slice will be corrected. I respect that. However; what is missing from this “coaching help” is their understanding of my progression as a golfer.
Sort of the same thing when you try to tell a high school football coach how to coach his or her team and you have no idea of their experience, expertise or their background leading up to the present.
That’s why FirstDown PlayBook has been so impressed with Scott Criner’s “So You Want To Call Plays” series. It takes into account not just what to call but why to call it.
When he first explained it to me I only understood the root of what he was doing. That root was the obvious. There is a lot more to calling plays than just CALLING PLAYS.
Scott Criner is up to 18 “So You Want To Call Plays” videos and you can find them right here.
His first episodes were as they should be. They are aimed at explaining how a young high school football coach at any level should have a basic understanding of how to game plan and not…just call plays. That’s coming from us and we are the best playbook tool available.
It was where Scott went next with his Youtube series that really grabbed my attention. He and former player and coach Colin Domene began to talk about “the why” when it comes to choosing an offensive style and the plays that go along with that.
Scott Criner has also begun to bring on experienced football coaches at several levels as guests on “So You Want To Call Plays”. These guests are high school and middle school coaches. They explain how they came to run their system and once again why they did that.
These football coaches talk about the evolution and the thought process of why they chose their offense and why they called these plays. You will here the fundamental thoughts that go behind why you should call RPO’s or the Jet Sweep.
You can watch the latest in Coach Criner’s “So You Want To Call Plays” below. Go back to the beginning and watch all 18 episodes as they will provide a foundation to build on as you continue to watch and learn.
