When you get into the red zone space comes at a premium for the offense. This is especially true in the passing game. The receivers are no longer a deep threat because there is no deep to threaten. Tight red zone answers are harder to find because the  throwing lanes become tighter as bracket coverage begins to show up and all routes seam to be contested more physically in this area of the field.

For this reason, it is important that plays called in the tight red zone have very compact easy reads so the Quarterback can make a quick decision. The last thing you want is for the Quarterback to hold the ball and take a sack or even worse turn it over and forfeit almost certain points.
