Do You Google Football Plays?

By FirstDown PlayBook on Oct 13, 2025

FirstDown PlayBook gets it. Finding a good football play happens in strange ways these days. Someone runs it on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and don’t be surprised if it is on Youtube, Twitter/X and my Mom’s Facebook page the next day. If all of those avenues fail you then of course you can google football plays and magically you will find answers!

Notice we didn’t dwell a lot on the origin of that football play or the experience behind it. That play, defense or special teams scheme could be one of several things if you are not careful. The great thing about the internet is exactly what can get you in trouble.

First, the football content that you find might just be completely wrong. I can take you to places right now where there are football plays with an offensive lineman pulling and no one blocking down to allow this to happen. Looks good on Google, bad for your running back’s headgear in real life.

The second thing you can encounter is a novice who is taking Curt Cignetti’s game winning play or defense and now he is going to explain how to coach it. He may have heard it at a clinic or yeah, just saw it on TV. Now, he is going to coach you on how to run it but has no idea about the details.

When You Google Football Plays You Are Opening A Can Of Worms (Maybe Snakes)

The third thing is maybe the most common. You will google a football plays or defense and the perfect football play drawing along with he perfect video. What could be wrong, right? Here’s what. These people are likely not a football coach.

A football coach who understands that every play and every defense has to be good against whatever it is run against. In fact some plays and defenses are very bad versus some looks. It’s important to know that and get out of that play or defense.

FirstDown PlayBook understands all of this because we have years of experience coaching football. We now have 15 years helping you with FirstDown PlayBook. Thousands of coaches are on FirstDown PlayBook every day. No two of them search for football playbook technology help the same way.

This is why FirstDown PlayBook has organized just about any football play or football or defense and yes, Football special teams scheme so that you can find them quickly and more importantly know that they come form NFL coaches.
