Different Football Play Drawings For Different Ages

Never lose your playbook work. High school football Playbook

A smart football coach always looks at the roster first. The best scheme is the wrong scheme if it does not fit your players. The same can be said for football play drawings. FirstDown PlayBook understands that a football play drawing should look very different from a Pop Warner football play drawing, and we are not just talking about the scheme either.

It is an interesting conundrum when you start drawing football plays. The player’s size on drawings immediately becomes an issue. It is honestly a problem that has no correct answer.

If a play drawing has your player’s size proportional to the football field then it is hard for anyone to see the players well enough on the diagram. If the player’s size on drawings are made bigger then the splits and other field proportions are off.

When you begin to dig into FirstDown PlayBook for the first time you notice something almost immediately. There are different football play drawing sizes when you navigate between the different sections.

It’s very intentional. From day one here at FirstDown PlayBook we have made it our goal to serve all coaching communities. That means that every day we are focused on our NFL coaches and our flag football coaches working with six year olds.

Football Play Drawings Matter. Just Ask Your Players.

When you start looking at these two ends of the spectrum and everyone in between, it’s a big diverse group. That is why we give you the chalk last to choose the football plays you like and also allow you to edit those plays.

FirstDown PlayBook thinks that the younger players need football play diagrams with big bold players and color. Anyone who has tried to capture the attention of a fidgety eight year old understands. The field background is more or less for aesthetics.

However; when it comes to our older players, the scale of the field is very important. Receivers must run routes at twelve yards and not eleven. Splits are important. This is why our varsity football plays, defenses and special teams schemes are drawn to scale. Curious? Watch this video to learn more.
