Kansas State Football. Good Coaches Study Archives
There is a huge game in Lawrence Kansas today at 2:30 CST as the two instate rivals Kansas and Kansa State football square off. This game will attract state wide attention if not national attention for several reasons.
First, an in state rivalry between the two biggest schools is fun regardless of which state you’re in. These two schools however both have new head coaches and there is always a heightened level of expectation when that happens.
Kansas hired Les Miles in a much publicized move last winter and Kansas State hired Chris Klieman from North Dakota State to replace legendary and arguably the best head coach ever in college football, Bill Snyder. (The Wildcats play in Bill Snyder stadium…no pressure coach Klieman)
Adding to the excitement this weekend is the fact that Kansas State absolutely dominated the highly ranked Oklahoma Sooners for much of the afternoon last weekend and held on for the upset win. Kansas also won a wild game on the last play with a field goal to beat Texas Tech. Tech blocked a kick the play earlier only to attempt a foolish lateral and give the ball back to Kansas for a second try. Kick is good. Kansas wins.

So obviously there’s a lot to look for today in this football game. As football coaches though we will be focusing on one play or one type of play. Kansas State’s offense is known for running the power and for running it very well. Last week they threw this little wrinkle in that we can guarantee you had the Kansas linebacker coach working overtime on run keys.
Enjoy the game today but take a quick look at this video before so you will know why the Jayhawks have their hands full stopping the Wildcats power run game.
