Packers Put On Four Minute Football Clinic

NFL football coaches are the experts at situational football. This has been the case for quite awhile now. With the addition of more specific game analytics, game situations have become even more of a focus.

One situation that is not talked about or valued near enough is four minute football. Turn a game on any weekend in the fall and you will likely come across a football team leading late in the game, but they fail to execute a four minute offense to win the game.

Fans often wonder aloud about why not do just what you have been doing? Why take your foot off the pedal? There are several reasons but the biggest one is that often it is almost mathematically impossible for you to lose the football game if you just execute your four minute plan.

If you continue your base game plan you risk turnovers, stopping the clock and even unnecessary injuries. Your four minute plan, if executed properly, keeps the clock moving as their Tom Brady sits on the sideline and watches.

Having said all of this, you can still add a wrinkle or two into your four minute plan. The Green Bay Packers found themselves in a four minute situation this past Sunday with about two and a half minutes left in the game.

Packers offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett dialed up a very simple inside zone play designed to get 4 or 5 yards and move the chains. However, they also included jet motion as part of the play. As you will see below in the video, 75 yards later the football game was all but over.
