FirstDown PlayBook Youth Football & Flag Football Youtube Videos

Every football play you watch on television this fall will be played by players who at one time played youth football or flag football. It’s very hard to find an NFL player or coach who does not have this background. This is why I have predominately committed FirstDown PlayBook to youth football and flag football every July and August. This year we have a special treat. You will get a daily Youtube Youth Football or youth Flag Football video.

As a 30 year veteran of NFL and college football coaching, I have been shocked at what I have seen being promoted on Google and other search engines as helpful for youth football coaches. What I see is not only helpful, there is a lot of it out there that is harmful.

Harmful? Yes. Not to jump on the USA Football bandwagon here but you cannot just walk out on the field and be a football coach, I have coached NFL players who you do not want coaching your 9 year old unless they receive the proper training.

Obviously Flag football is not quite as dangerous? That is probably why so many parents have elected to start their children there as opposed to trusting that the local Pop Warner coach understands the fundamentals and correct techniques to be teaching.

Having said that, youth flag football may be worse than youth tackle football with the number of imposters out there. You will see it all. Flag football plays with absolutely no scheme or plan. Most are essentially “Go get open on this route and the quarterback will see you.
