FirstDown PlayBook Fast 15

Welcome back to the FirstDown PlayBook Fast 15. Today you are going to hear about an important lesson today in positivity, even in the world of football where lessons come hard. Meet Amanda Ruller. She has already accomplished more than most of us at a young age. Amanda is the Head Coach for the Eastern University Women’s flag football team. She is also the Tight Ends coach for the Men’s tackle team.

There are a lot of things to point to when you look at how Amanda got here. It could be her athletic background which will humble most of us that played three sports and achieved at that. Amanda is an athlete and has had success in pretty much all she has attempted.

Raise your hand if you have excelled on a national level at track, bob sled, skeleton and (Olympic) weight lifter. Along the way, Amanda got bitten by the same bug that we all did. She was exposed to our game of football and fell in love with it.

The secret sauce is what she did with the football bug. She became and continues to be a force. Before you question anything about her path, understand this. Amanda flew on her own dime to Indianapolis to attend the NFL combine. She brought along copies of her resume in a backpack and handed them to whoever would listen.

Amanda Ruller Is A Big Fan Of The FirstDown PlayBook Wristband Sheets!

I have been to many of my share of NFL Combines and it is intimidating. There is plenty of testosterone and plenty of pretentiousness. For a young female to walk into the Indianapolis free for all is a bigger feat than most folks know or understand. This bold move is what ended up with her working as a training camp apprentice with the Seattle Seahawks an later the Cincinnati Bengals.

Watch this video and learn. Learn how your passion can take you places, if you just believe in yourself. Amanda walks us through what it is like to pick up and follow your dream across two coasts, not to mention two countries.

We cover several topics including how Amanda learned about FirstDown PlayBook through her membership with the National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches. She also explains how the FirstDown PlayBook wristband sheets are a part of her daily preparation as the head flag football coach and offensive coordinator.

I will leave you with this. Amanda Ruller knows football and it’s obvious that she is a sponge more interested in learning our game and helping her players as she goes about her daily business. When you combine this with her energy, drive and passion, you can bet that she has a bright career ahead of her. FirstDown PlayBook looks forward to working with her as she grows as a football coach.
