Never lose your playbook work. High school football Playbook

One of the many things we have learned here at FirstDown PlayBook over the past 15 years is that numbers matter when you are coaching football. The further you get from eleven players when it comes to tackle football, the more different the game strategy becomes. This is why 9 man high school football coaches have the luxury of not needing to vary a whole lot from common 11 man football schemes.

Depending on who you are asking, you are playing with your five offensive linemen and a quarterback. The reason I write it like that is because your end of the line players are eligible to receive a pass. Some coaches might play a Tackle at that position while others might elecet to play a Tight End with better catching ability.

After that you can decide where to play your other three eligible players. The variety of formations, for the most part mirrors 11 man football. You can have wide receivers to spread the offense out a little. Some 9 man coaches choose to play two running backs while others incorporate wings with their strategy.

Make no mistake though, that last word is important. There is still strategy involved and your 9 man offensive scheme had better fit your personnel. Understanding this is why FirstDown PlayBook takes the time to include different 9 man football formations.

FirstDown PlayBook Offers 9 Man Football Coaches Different Run Play Types That You Can Edit.

We also look at this section from a play calling view. As you will see in this short video, our FirstDown PlayBook coaches have taken the time draw up a run play from each of our run play types. There are sweeps, powers, counters and so on for each run type.

FirstDown PlayBook Offers 8 Man Football Plays Too

Now full disclosure, we have not done this to the degree that we have with the 11 man football section. Please keep this in mind though. Every FirstDown PlayBook play, defense or special teams play is editable. This means that for a youth football or high school 9 man football coach, you can save a ton of time with addition by subtraction.

In other words you can edit one of our 11 man plays by deleting two players and making an adjustment or two. This opens up a lot more content for our 9 man football coaches, where our 6 man football coaches will tell you, the game they coach is entirely different.
