6 Man PAP Scissors Shot Play

By FirstDown PlayBook on Dec 2, 2021

This 6 man football PAP Scissors shot play can be run several different ways with the backfield action. As you can see we have it with a play action pass fake here. Anyone who coaches 6 man football knows that having two quarterbacks in the backfield is not unusual. In fact, it is often the norm when a team is trying to buy time to throw the ball down the football field.

As you are studying this play and the FirstDown PlayBook coaching points that go along with it, keep that in mind. The quarterback in this drawing could just as easily turn and flip the ball deeper to the R back and let him take the shot. This would eliminate the play action fake we have here.

The other slight difference with this play is that the scissors concept would normally have the post runner go first. As you can see we have the bench or corner runner going first so we can read this post to corner. The post runner is off the ball so that is why we have made this adjustment.
